Hydrodilatation of Frozen Shoulders

About

Hydrodilatation is a non-surgical procedure that uses ultrasound guidance to inject a large volume of isotonic fluid and corticosteroid into the shoulder joint to stretch the joint capsule to increase the shoulder’s mobility.

It is a safe, and cost-effective method to treat frozen shoulder (also known as Adhesive Capsulitis) in terms of functionality and pain relief.

Hydrodilatation is most effective in severe frozen shoulder cases that are early in their time course and not adequately managed with painkillers and physiotherapy.

For patients who are not improving or for whom watchful waiting is not practical, hydrodilatation can support these other management options. Non-diabetic populations tend to experience superior outcomes with hydrodilatation than diabetic patients.

To find out more about how hydrodilatation could help with your frozen shoulder pain, please book a consultation with Dr Ireland by calling the clinic on 01872 392087.
